On January 22nd, 2015 The Timken Museum of Art hosted an exceptional visiting speaker, Dr. Linda Wolk-Simon. Dr. Linda Wolk-Simon, veteran curator for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and now Director and Chief Curator of University Museums at Fairfield University, enthralled patrons with her depth of knowledge about Raphael. Yes the artist Raphael whose The Madonna of the Pinks is on loan to The Timken Museum from the National Gallery in London. This much anticipated event actually had people arriving before the start time. Of special note Dr. Linda Wolk-Simon noted the detail by Raphael, as well as his usage of local scenery and buildings. The Timken Museum of Art's visitors are fortunate to have this opportunity to view this wonderful painting which is on loan from the National Gallery in London. Raphael's The Madonna of the Pinks is on exhibit from December through April 26th, 2015..... Social Diary rates this exhibit exceptional!! Entrance to the museum and the exhibition is FREE. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10:30am-4:30pm, Sunday 12:30pm-4:30pm, closed Mondays and holidays. This exhibit is in part funded by the David C. Copley Foundation. * Margo Schwab, MBA, more formally known as Margaret E. Schwab, has produced, written, interviewed and photographed for various media organizations since 1989. Schwab attended Holton Arms School, La Jolla Country Day School and La Jolla High School. Schwab has a B.A. from Scripps College, spent a business internship with S.A.I.C., Science Applications International Corporation, and earned a Masters of Business degree, M.B.A., from the University of San Diego by way of Claremont Graduate School . Schwab additionally took college courses from Harvard University, and Syracuse University. Schwab volunteers for numerous charity organizations. She also continues to support animal organizations and the prevention of people and animal abuse. Schwab is the editor and co-owner of The Social Diary. Margo Schwab and Scott Johnston of San Diego Social Diary are both members of the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club (Margo Schwab since 1974) and both are members of the University Club, Morgan's Run, and its worldwide ClubCorp Compass Society.
